M.H. is a melancholic slacker who was raised by wolves in the deep Finnish woods. She dreamed through her school years about becoming an artist and writer, but was brutally taken back to reality by a bureaucratic vocational counselor who forced her to face her total lack of talent.

Years later she was accepted as an art student at Dômen Art School in Gothenburg, Sweden, and to everybody’s big surprise after many years full of agony and self doubt, she received an MFA from University of Gothenburg.

Her second dream came true in Chicago where she was accepted at Northwestern’s writing program, which was like a creative paradise without a snake. She also studied playwriting and screenwriting at Chicago Dramatists.

She has studied the secret lives of cats all her life and she has become friends with them all, everything from successful artists to less successful and melancholic poets and writers to drunken sailors.

M.H. lives quietly in Chicago downtown with a taciturn Viking husband, and is waiting for the next stray cat to walk to her doorstep.
